Shannen on “The Dr. Oz Show”

Recently, Shannen appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and shared her journey. I don’t usually like posting personal related news but here is an article about the TV appearance. Much love and support to Shannen and her family.

Shannen Doherty shared her journey with breast cancer in an emotional appearance on The Dr. Oz Show Thursday.

The actress, 44, said that when she first received the news, all she could think about was how her family would cope.

“You worry most about the people that you love and making sure that they are going to be okay. For me, that was the hardest part,” she told Dr. Mehmet Oz, tearing up.

Doherty said she delayed going to a doctor even though she had felt a lump in her breast because her business managers had failed to pay her health insurance. (She is currently suing her former business managers for alleged misconduct.) She encouraged women who felt irregularities not to delay going to the doctor as she did.

“You have no idea what that extra time might have afforded you,” she said. “Mine for instance spread to a lymph node or two. It might not have spread … The most important thing is catching it as early as humanly possible.”

Doherty said the mass is still in her breast, and she has not had surgery yet, as her oncologist felt that they should see if a medicine regimen would shrink the tumor. The actress’ tumor feeds on estrogen, so the treatment has involved blocking the hormone. Continue reading Shannen on “The Dr. Oz Show”

“MallBrats” finds a filming location

Mallrats sequel finds its mall

Kevin Smith heads east for his Mallrats sequel. The writer-director announced on social media Thursday that the follow-up to his 1995 cult classic would shoot in Exton, Penn. at the Exton Square Mall.

It’s about 35 miles outside of Philadelphia. The original film shot at the Eden Prairie Center in Eden Prairie, Minn. — fewer than 20 miles out from Minneapolis. The film, which was entitled MallBrats in May, was slated to film in Delaware, but the developer of the Granite Run Mall said it would be unlikely due to “a snag with the movie people.”

The marquee names from the original film — Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee — are all on board to reprise the roles. It’s unclear if Ben Affleck or his Volkswagen will return.

According to Smith, production begins in January.

Kevin Smith Confirms Mallrats Sequel, MallBrats

Writer-director Kevin Smith has revealed that the long overdue (or, dependent on your point of view, totally unexpected) sequel to his 1995 comedy ‘Mallrats’ is to be entitled ‘MallBrats.’
The filmmaker and prominent fan culture commentator made the reveal via Instagram, posting an image of the cover of his recently finished script alongside a photograph of himself on the set of ‘Mallrats’ with the late producer James Jacks, to whom he dedicated the sequel.
