“Charmed” Reboot Rumors

Holly Marie Combs Shuts Down ‘Charmed’ Reboot Rumors With Throwback Pics: ‘We Still Wish Them Well’

Sad news, Charmed fans.

After reports recently circulated that Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano were in talks to reprise the hit WB show, their co-star Holly Marie Combs shut it down.

“I’m sorry to say that all the reboot rumors are just that…. rumors,” Combs captioned a throwback shot with her Charmed sisters Milano and Rose McGowan. “But here’s #tbt to our wood nymph days. In our defense it was really hot so we wanted to wear the least amount of clothes possible. Really hot. That’s my story and still sticking to it. Still.”

Combs, 43, further nixed any reboot rumors with another throwback of her and Charmed co-star Brian Krause from Philadelphia Comic-Con in 2013.

“When they ask you about the Charmed reboot and the convo takes a super serious turn,” the actress wrote. “Look at BK thinking real hard and me buying him time for the perfectly phrased reply. Team work right thur I tell you.”

The star jokingly continued, referencing her Twitter statement to the original reports of a Charmed prequel series that surfaced earlier this year, “But we still wish them well. Cackle. Cackle. Cackle.”

Shannen Visits Capitol Hill

Shannen Doherty talks dogs and cats on Capitol Hill

Cause: Preventing the trade of dog and cat meat for human consumption.

Celeb: Shannen Doherty, the actress most famous for playing Brenda Walsh on the teen drama “90210.” Doherty, sporting a close-cropped ’do after finishing chemo for breast cancer, visited Capitol Hill on Tuesday to advocate for pets (art imitating life, maybe — anyone remember the 90210 plot point where Brenda fell in with a bunch of animal-rights activists?).

Scene: A briefing in your typical high-ceilinged, swag-curtained hearing room in the Rayburn House Office Building, with Doherty seated at a dais alongside Rep. Alcee L. Hastings (D-Fla.), who is co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation that would amend the Animal Welfare Act to ban the transport of cats and dogs meant for the pet-flesh market.

And talk about cats and dogs — bill co-sponsor Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) dropped by the hearing to note that the issue might just be one of the few that can bring typically warring Republicans and Democrats together. The Florida Republican noted that, although he and Hastings don’t exactly see eye to eye on many issues, preventing the consumption of cats and dogs is “one of the things we do agree on.”

Whew.

Sound bite: Doherty, who reps the L.A.-based Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, revealed that she’s not your typical celeb advocate parachuting in from Hollywood — she’s got bona fide connections. Her brother, Sean Doherty, was a lobbyist who knew House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), she said, and he helped set up a meeting for her later in the day with the top GOP leader — which is so very Washington.

“Having cancer brings things into a different kind of focus,” she said, crediting her dog with helping her get through surgery and treatment after her diagnosis in 2015. “We as Americans have trained dogs to do amazing things — they take bullets for our officers and sniff bombs,” she continued. “They are part of us and for us to not stand up and protect animals … we have to protect our own.”

Shannen Reveals Her Breast Cancer Has Spread

EXCLUSIVE: Shannen Doherty Reveals Her Breast Cancer Has Spread: ‘The Unknown Is the Scariest Part’

Shannen Doherty has some devastating news about her battle with breast cancer.
The 45-year-old actress reveals her cancer has spread in an exclusive sit-down with ET.

“I had breast cancer that spread to the lymph nodes, and from one of my surgeries we discovered that some of the cancer cells might have actually gone out of the lymph nodes,” Doherty tells ET’s Jennifer Peros. “So for that reason, we are doing chemo, and then after chemo, I’ll do radiation.”

Doherty also reveals she had a single mastectomy in May and is open about the most difficult part of fighting cancer.

“The unknown is always the scariest part,” she shares. “Is the chemo going to work? Is the radiation going to work? You know, am I going to have to go through this again, or am I going to get secondary cancer? Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love.”
